Mineralogie: Review and EOTD

(Last Updated On: July 10, 2019)
Mineralogie is a 100% mineral makeup brand which does not do testing on animals and is eco-friendly. I love companies like that which make good quality products while striving to contribute back to society in their own ways. I was sent the following 3 products to review.

Pressed Eye Shadow Compact

I received the shade Poise and it is gorgeous – a warm Copper shade that looks almost bronze. I love such copper shades because of my olive skin. They give me just that subtle glow. This is a shimmer eyeshadow and is so beautiful to work with – barely any fallout, easily buildable in layers and very long lasting. The pigmentation is strong and for a natural day look, I suggest going light on it since it already has shimmer and strong pigmentation.
Special mention has to be made about the creatively designed magnetised case! You can pick any shadow of your choice and fit it into the little compact. RRP: $29.95

Matte Eye Shadow

I received the shade Smokey Amethyst – the name is so apt as it is a dark ‘mysterious’ shade of amethyst. I have mentioned that I am not a big fan of loose pigments. I just dislike working with them; they are messy and end up everywhere. This one was not bad at all, I think in part due to the ultra-fine particles and also the simple yet practical design of the container (a 2 gram shaker jar). I did not have the same nightmarish experience as I did with other loose pigments; I was able to tap out just the amount I needed.
As promised, it did stay put for a long time (I was out all day in the unforgiving heat!). It is available in matte shades too and they have quite a range of shades to choose from. I took at look at the other shades available and I already favour certain ones such as Blue-velvet and Pink-sand http://www.mineralogie.com.au/products/matte-shimmer-eye-shadow.html   RRP: $35

Natural Cream Concealer

I can confidently say this concealer has the thickest consistency I have ever seen. Having said that, it spreads surprisingly well and does not cake as much as one would expect. The beige was a bit too light for me so I ended up blending with another darker liquid concealer I own. It does have very good coverage given how thick it is. I had to be cautious not to apply too much – even a light stroke was too much. All that is needed is really just a little dot which is enough to spread all under the eye area. Again, its staying power is awesome and did not cake on my skin; however, I did feel like if it wasn’t so thick it could be better in terms of seamlessly blending into my skin.
Personally, I prefer concealers that have a more runny consistency as I don’t require such a high coverage. However, if you are looking for a really high coverage and thick concealer, this would be the go.  RRP: $39

What an easy smokey eye look to do! I wore this during the day so I did not go too intense with the Smokey Amethyst, using it only lightly as a contour shade and to line my outer lower waterline (I call it my kind-of-there smokey eye, just enough to darken and bring out the eyes but not a full-on smokey eye). Used Poise as a base colour, on inner corner of eye and inner lower waterline.

I love having colours on my eyes. Lined my inner corners with a pinkish crayon liner, just to soften the look a little and add a pop of colour just because!

Has anyone here tried Mineralogie?Any thoughts? 🙂
