I have been loving Laura Mercier base products for my make up recently so I was super stoked to try out the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder!

This is an oil-free formula with a natural matte finish and you can use it dry or wet, depending on the coverage you desire.

My skin hasn’t been the most obedient in the colder weather recently – lots of itchiness and flaking and dryness. I spend more time prepping my skin {exfoliating + lots of moisturising and serum-ing} before I slap on my face paint aka make up. It’s so important to me that my make up doesn’t add to the dryness and tightness I already feel on my skin. This Smooth Finish Foundation Powder has not dried out my skin and in fact, it is so finely milled and goes on so smoothly. It uses Vitamin E and Shea Butter for hydration and claims to blur fine lines without settling into them – which I can agree with as I do use it to set my Laura Mercier secret camouflage concealer.

This foundation powder comes with a sponge which I use to apply for sheer to medium coverage. For medium to full coverage, wet the sponge and apply the desired amount. I have applied it wet just once and it goes on so beautifully, almost with the smoothness of liquid foundation!

One thing this foundation powder does best for me is evening out my skin tone. And that it does really naturally, without caking or looking too powdery. It also manages to last a good 7 to 8 hours before I notice any signs of an oily nose or T-zone.

As with other Laura Mercier base products, there are a good range of shades to choose from: 12 shades for this one. The one I have is 08 Medium Beige with Yellow Undertones and suits me really well. This foundation powder is also fragrance-free and perfect for all skin types.

You can get this product at Laura Mercier counters in selected David Jones & MYER stores. RRP:$59
