Mary Kay Zen in Bloom Spring Edition

(Last Updated On: April 19, 2016)

It’s almost unbelievable that Christmas is just a mere couple of weeks away. How is everyone’s Christmas preparations going? Surely not as mundane as ours. This year, we are admittedly a little slack and don’t really have any activities or events to go to so it will be a quiet one.

Anyway, there’s nothing like a collection of gorgeous make up to spread some Christmas cheer! I was so excited to get the chance to play with some Mary Kay makeup. This is their Zen In Bloom collection which features an East Meets West theme with Zen garden inspired shades.

Lip Lacquer: Pink Pagoda + Chai Latte

I fell in love with the colours when I first saw them. What a beautiful shade of pink and a warm nude shade. These lip lacquers swatch sheer but are really easy to work with and build up for greater intensity. I especially love the thinner consistency and I find it to be really moisturizing. These are very glossy but without the stickiness and mess. The gloss lasted for about 3 hours, leaving behind a subtle stain. I have been reaching for them regularly these days!

The lip brush is definitely a plus point – I always apply lip colours with a brush {unless I’m just touching up outside}; I just find that it blends the colours out so much better. This lip brush is great for taking out- it’s a mini retractable one perfect for handbags!

Nail Lacquer in Pink Bamboo, Ginseng Blossom & Blue Lotus

In keeping with the beautiful pastel Zen theme, Mary Kay has released 3 gorgeous nail lacquers for this collection. I deliberated for some time before posting the above pic, I just am the worst nail person! Dry hands, unsightly cuticles, short bitten unlady-like nails {terrible habit since childhood!} so please pardon the pic but I wanted to show how opaque these nail lacquers are. I just did one coat in the pic! Obviously, Ginseng Blossom is a little less opaque than the other two but considering the nude shade, it still does fairly well in comparison to the other nudes I have.

Eye Color Palette in Garden Sky

As always, I get super excited by eye shadow! These colours are such cheerful summery pastels and I think, perfect for the festive season too. This is the second Mary Kay eye shadow product I have tried and as I mentioned previously, I am actually quite impressed. I find the eye shadows to blend beautifully; they are quite creamy and pigmentation is great. These eye shadows are also mineral-based.

In the current Mary Kay Christmas catalogue, you can purchase these products in 2 different sets.
The Summer Garden in Blossom Set includes:
Garden Sky eye palette + Lip Lacquer with brush in Chai Latte + Nail Lacquer in Blue Lotus & Ginseng Blossom + Obi Clutch  {as pictured in stock image above}
while the Cherry in Blossom Set comes with:
Garden Sky palette + Lip Lacquer with brush in Pink Pagoda, Nail Lacquer in Pink Bamboo & Ginseng Blossom + Obi Clutch
Each set retails for $77 and I have italicised & underlined the basic difference between both sets.

Any thoughts on this collection? Have you tried Mary Kay cosmetics?
