Nelson Bay + Seal Rocks // Our Caravan Roadtrip + What I Packed //

(Last Updated On: July 10, 2019)

We have been away on a short roadtrip holiday for my parents’ visit. It’s always nice to have my parents over, especially since they don’t have other grandchildren and love spending time with my 2 girls. We decided on a whim to hire a caravan and go on a little adventure. Some of the places we went to were simply breath taking! Thought I’d just share some pictures…

Gan Gan Lookout near Nelson Bay
Seal Rocks

We spotted a fair few dolphins – they were hanging around near the surface {towards the right of the image}. We were so surprised to see so many and it felt like time stood still – we did nothing but watch them for an hour before we even realised. Seal Rocks is such an amazing place; it is like paradise on earth. Such a quiet, untainted little corner – many people joke about not telling others about this amazing place so it doesn’t become too busy and ‘tainted’ by waves of tourists and visitors to disturb its peace and tranquillity.

Anna Bay
We also went camel riding at Anna Bay. Such a unique experience! It was affordable, extremely fun and even our 2 year old toddler went along for the ride. There was also a sunset ride that is only for adults {1 hour} but we didn’t go for that one. This was the only picture I took at the sand dunes as I was paranoid about sand getting on my camera.
Our home for a few days
I love seeing what others pack for short trips. Since we were spending a lot of time at the beach, we did take along a whole lot of sunscreen. The kids had their own sunscreen each {plus I brought along a big spray-on one} while the adults shared my Neutrogena Beach Defence. I love love love the light scent that does not remind me of typical sunscreens at all. I think of it as a sweet coconut scent while my mum thinks it’s more a ‘sweet buttery’ scent – whatever it is, we {referring to my husband and kids and my dad too} all agree it smells pretty damn good!! Its Broad Spectrum SPF 50, 4 hours water resistance and oil free formula were also perfect for the beach. Something I will be repurchasing for sure.
Although I didn’t end up using the Dirty Works Coconut Scrub during the trip, I did use it before we left. The Coconut scent is quite strong but I’m not complaining! It smells divine. Its Pecan Shell granules are great for exfoliating yet not too harsh and after washing off, the Sweet Almond Oil in it gives smooth, moisturized legs ready for shorts + bikini bottoms for the beach! I was definitely a happy girl and my legs were definitely in need of a good ol’ scrub to get rid of the unsightly, dry skin.
My first time trying First Aid Beauty (FAB) was a good experience. I love the convenience of a travel pack – this one has a Face Cleanser, Daily Face Cream, Body Wash and Body Moisturizer – pretty much covers the basic skin care needs on a short trip. Both the face products have the added FAB Antioxidant Booster and they come with no parabens, harsh chemicals and are safe for sensitive skin. I found the Face Cleanser a little drying {I have been suffering from pretty dry skin of late} while my mum found it alright – it was also great for removing the little make up I had on. I found the Daily Face Cream extra soothing on my sore, sun-exposed face. It gives a nice cooling sensation on application and has little to no scent, unlike the Face Cleanser which has a stronger scent. Both Body Wash and Body Moisturizer also have the added FAB Antioxidant Booster. Again, I especially favoured the Body Moisturizer which has a gel texture and was extra soothing and cool on my skin.

As usual, I forgot about protecting my lips again and had some bad chapping from the sun. Luckily, the FAB Ultra Repair Lip Therapy took good care of that. It definitely lives up to its name of “ultra repair” which was exactly what it did – with its thicker yet non-sticky formula + nice refreshing mint scent applied with a convenient slanted tip.

I also brought along these simple make up products for the trip. I just couldn’t go past the Becca Beach Tints for an easy-to-apply, simple, glowing flush on the cheeks. They also doubled up as lip tints for me – got to love a multi-purpose product on holiday! I’ve got the tint in Watermelon and Fig. My Benefit Hoola Bronzer was also a must-have that I didn’t have to think twice about. I have to say, after hearing so much hype about this bronzer, I now understand why it’s such a hot favourite. It’s such a warm, matte bronzer that adds the perfect warmth to my skin tone without any muddiness. I know I am definitely getting the full sized one!
My ELES Age Defying BB Cream with SPF 30 was my preferred base along with the NARS Laguna Illuminator. On days that I went without make up, I always remembered my Philosophy Sunscreen while my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder {in Dim Light} was such an easy way to get a beautiful glow, even in the midst of the late nights and long tired {but fun} days. My mini pot of Benefit Erase Paste + ELES Brow Blender completed my little make up bag. If anything, concealer + brow products are my top priority for a simple, refreshed look!
As we return to our daily routine, and prepare to bid farewell once again to my parents, I’m just glad we have all the photos and memories to look back upon. We didn’t really go all that far away from the Hunter but it was an exciting trip nonetheless!
Hope you enjoyed this post and wishing you all a wonderful weekend x
